A Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS) Kada paid a port of call to the port of Mombasa on her maiden voyage from Lagos, Nigeria, to the United Arab Emirates through several ports.
In a statement, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said Nigeria Chief of the Naval Staff Rear Admiral Yakubu Wambai led a delegation from the Landing Ship Tank on Tuesday, 19th April 2022, in paying a courtesy call on Commander Kenya Navy Major General Jimson Mutai at the Kenya Navy Headquarters Mtongwe, Mombasa.
The courtesy call aimed at opening new opportunities to further the frontiers of cooperation between the two Navies thus improving the existing bilateral relationship.
It also deepened and cemented collaboration on a quest for a safer maritime domain for both countries.
“Port calls are a show of diplomacy amongst navies to reinforce efforts of actualizing the objectives of a Naval-centric cooperation mechanism,” read part of the statement.
Present during the courtesy call were representatives of the High Commissioner Nigerian Embassy to Kenya Dr John Amondu, Commanding Officer of NNS Kada Navy Captain Reginald Adoki and the Kenya Navy Formation Commanders.
