Steve Marvin Njagi, a notorious figure known for his involvement in motor vehicle break-ins and theft around Mombasa and its environs, has been apprehended and brought to justice.
Njagi, who has been on the radar of law enforcement for some time, was recently arraigned before the Mombasa Law Courts following his alleged role in a significant car break-in that resulted in the disappearance of Ksh1.4 million ($10800).
The incident occurred on June 6, 2024, at the Naivas Likoni parking lot, where Njagi is accused of carrying out a daring theft.
Reports indicate that he allegedly broke into a vehicle by forcing open the front driver’s door. Once inside, he made off with a staggering amount, leaving the vehicle’s owner and authorities scrambling for answers.
Njagi’s arrest resulted from a planned operation conducted by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Lang’ata branch, Nairobi.
Acting on intelligence, the detectives tracked Njagi to his hideout in Nairobi, swiftly moving in and arresting him.
Following his capture, Njagi was handed over to their Changamwe counterparts, who ensured that he was promptly brought before the court to answer for his alleged crimes.
The DCI has issued a series of precautions to help vehicle owners protect themselves and their property to combat this growing threat.
“Install anti-theft devices, and always park in safe, well-lit, and fully visible areas. Before you park your car, make sure to remove or hide anything that a thief might find attractive. Also, remember to close your car windows and doors, lock your car, and take your keys with you,” said DCI.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations remains steadfast in its commitment to curbing car break-ins and thefts. As this latest arrest demonstrates, those who engage in such criminal activities will be pursued and brought to justice, facing the total weight of the law.
Njagi’s case is a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for all citizens to take proactive measures to safeguard their property.
