The National Police Service's Healing the Boot Season 3 has kicked off in Nakuru County, northwest of Nairobi.

In a statement, NPS said the tournament now adopts a league format where each team will have to play against the other, home and away.

"This mode gives every team an equal opportunity to fairly battle for the ultimate prize," said NPS.

During this season's flagging off ceremony, the Nakuru County Commander Madam Beatrice Kiraguri congratulated players for exhibiting high standards of sportsmanship and conduct in the preceding seasons.

She also pointed out that the management and approach towards the direction of mental health challenges have greatly improved in the county, a factor she attributed to the sports and entertainment brought by the 'Healing the Boot' campaign.

"With a long season ahead, we can only wait in anticipation to crown the league leaders," said Kiraguri.
