The National Assembly’s Finance and National Planning Committee has recommended that the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor nomination Kamau Thugge be approved for the position.
In a statement, the committee asked the house to approve Thugge when they received its report.
“Having considered the suitability, capacity and integrity of the nominee, and pursuant to section 13(1) and 13C of the Central Bank Act, section 3 and 8 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval), and Standing Order 216(5)(f) of the National Assembly Standing Orders, the Departmentmal Committee of Finance and National Planning recommends that the National Assembly APPROVES the nomination of Dr. Kamau Thugge, CBS as Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya,” read the statement.
President William Ruto nominated Dr.
Thugge to succeed outgoing CBK Governor Dr.
Patrick Njoroge, whose term expires at the end of this month.
Thugge worked at the Ministry of Finance as the Director of Fiscal and Monetary Affairs between 2005 and 2008 before becoming the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
