Two robbery with violence suspects were arrested in Kericho County, Kenya’s South Rift, on Sunday.
The duo were nabbed after they attempted to rob two people ferrying farm produce to Busia, the Western part of the country from Tanzania.
“On 21/5/23 , an attempted robbery with violence occurred along Muhoroni-Kipsitet road at Bangla area. Officers from Kipsitet Police Station while on patrol, encountered motor vehicle Mitsubishi Fuso driven by two men, with farm produce to Busia from Tanzania,” said the police.
The suspects were part of five gangs who had cut the rear canvas of the vehicle intending to steal from them. They have been identified as Odhiambo, 26 and Simon, 19.
During the arrest, police recovered two homemade guns fitted with five rounds of 22mm ammunition, a metallic axe , a kitchen knife, two torches and an Infinix mobile phone.
The manhunt for their accomplices is ongoing.
