Police 'Healing the Boot' tournament kicks off in Nakuru

The much anticipated “Healing the Boot” tournament season two kicked off on Sunday, January 19, 2022, at the Nakuru Show Ground, northwest of Nairobi.

The tournament pit teams from all Sub-Counties in Nakuru County.

The showdown between Nakuru East and Gilgil teams stood out as the highlight of the day with each team threatening to disarm the other with goals raining from end to end.

“Gilgil showed the defensive solidity they are best famed for. At the final whistle, Nakuru East managed to pull a 3-2 win from the tight clash,” read part of the statement released by the National Police Service.

One of the biggest shocks of the thrilling event came when the struggling Nakuru North team held the pre-match favourites, Njoro Sub-County team, to a barren draw.

Subukia Sub-County team edged past Nakuru West in a penalty shootout.

Nakuru East, Njoro and Subukia teams booked their slots in the next round of the tournament as well as the Gilgil team who proceed to the next round after emerging as the “best losers”.

The tournament, which is organized by the Nakuru County Police Commander Madam Beatrice Kiraguri, CP, is part of a series of events slated for this year

It is aimed at improving public-police relationships in our effort to provide a people-centred policing.

The tournament also provides a platform for interactions between officers of different ranks and files.

The next phase of the tournament is slated for 12th February 2022 as season two gains momentum.
