Police in Kenya have issued updates on four individuals purported to have been abducted in December 2024.
Bernard Kavuli, Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti and Rony Kiplagat disappeared mysteriously last month causing panic among the citizens.
The four were released on Monday morning by unknown kidnappers when Kenyans planned to hold demonstrations to push the government to release them.
Kavuli was found in Kitale, Western part of the country and Mwangi walked into their Embu home where he was purported to have been abducted. On the other hand, Muteti was dumped in Nairobi City square and Kiplagat was freed in Machakos.
However, two abductees Cartoonist Gideon Kibet, alias Kibet Bull, and Steve Mbisi are yet to be released.
In a statement, the police said they would reach out to them and their parents to give them the necessary support.
“Following media reports that Billy Wanyiri Mwangi, Peter Muteti, and Rony Kiplagat, who were reported missing in Embu Police Station, Kabete Police Station, and Thogoto Police Post respectively, have reunited with their respective families, we wish to assure the public that our officer will reach out to them and their families and give them all the necessary support as we seek further information to assist ongoing investigations,” said the National Police Service (NPS).
NPS spokesperson Resila Onyango said that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations into all missing persons in the country.
“Bernard Kavuli Musyimi presented himself at Moi’s Bridge Police Station today and is assisting the investigators with further information,” said Resila.
She urged the public to work closely with the police by providing information that may lead to tracing of the missing individuals.
