A police officer killed took away his life by shooting himself in Murang’a County, Central Kenya.

The incident took place on Monday night at a local police station, Nyakianga.

Reports indicate that gunshots were heard emanating from the officer’s house, and his colleagues rushed to the scene.

On arrival, they found the officer’s lifeless body lying in the bed.

A preliminary report indicates that the officer shot himself in the mouth, and the bullet exited through the back of his head.

The reason why the officer took himself is yet to be established.

The body was transferred to a local morgue pending investigations.
