The National Police Service today, together with the Deaf Empowerment Kenya (DEK) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), on Thursday launched the knowledge products for the deaf at Machakos Youth Centre, lower Eastern Kenya.
In attendance were representatives from Machakos County Child Welfare Services, among other state and non-state partners.
The launch was part of several other activities undertaken by the DEK as the society marks this year’s Deaf Awareness Week, whose theme is ‘Building inclusive communities for all.’
These information products have been developed with input from the NPS, the Judiciary, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to empower the deaf to interact and understand the criminal justice system.
Representatives from the National Police Service lauded UNODC, DEK, EU, and other partners for the collaboration and support in a cause that affords the deaf access to justice.
