Police Recover 20 Firearms In Turkana

Twenty firearms have been recovered by police officers in Turkana, northwest of Kenya.

The weapons were handed over to the National Government Administration and National Police Service officers.

“During a Public Baraza held at Kakong Trading Centre on, May 9, 2023, by the Governor of Turkana County Hon. Jeremiah Lomorukai accompanied by the County Commissioner Turkana Mr. Jacob Ouma, a total of 20 firearms were surrendered to National Government Administration and National Police Service officers,” said the police.

The meeting brought together County and Sub-County Intelligence Committee members.

Also in attendance were Turkana Women Representative Ms Cecilia Asinyen Ngetit, local MCAs and County employees.

Elsewhere in Baringo County, west-central of Kenya, an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was recovered, and two suspects were arrested.

The two suspects are beyond a robbery with violence incident on April 12, 2023, in Kiserian within the Baringo.
