The National Police Service (NPS) has issued an update to the public regarding a photo circulating on social media of four suspected carjackers operating within the Machakos, Makueni and Mlolongo areas of the Eastern Region.
According to NPS, the suspected gang members were arrested in the Kitui Kwa Vonza area on January 14, 2024, following the theft of a motor vehicle in Machakos.
The police identified the suspects as George Maloba Osokho, Martin Nyamai, Edward Rogova Mudachi, and Morris Muli Lumumba.
They have a previous criminal record of October 28, 2023, within the Makueni Kwa Kathoka area, charged at Machakos Law Courts for robbery with violence.
The suspects were also charged with murder and robbery in the same court. They pleaded not guilty, and all were remanded at Makueni Main Prison.
“Investigations also indicate that they are part of a syndicate operating between Nairobi, Mlolongo, Machakos, Makueni and across the Kenya-Tanzania border where stolen/robbed/ hired vehicles are sold/disposed off,” said the police.
Their strategies include hiring vehicles for weddings or engagements from companies and never returning the vehicles. The cases are Pending Before Courts in Makueni and Machakos.
“We remain committed to the multi-agency security cooperation, community-police engagement, and serving Kenyans selflessly with utmost dedication,” added the police.
