Operations in Kisii town, southwestern Kenya, were disrupted on Wednesday morning following the anti-government protests.
The locals took to the streets to protest against the high cost of living. The demonstrators barricaded the roads with stones and lit bonfires, bringing transportation to a standstill.
Police lobbed teargas to disperse the angry protesters who attempted to gain entry into the town’s CBD. By the time of this publication, the protesters were regrouping and growing in large numbers.

Elsewhere, demonstrators engaged the police in running battles in Mombasa, forcing the officers to lo teargas at them.
Demonstrations have also been reported in different parts of the country, such as Meru, Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, etc.
The situation is expected to worsen as protests spread across the country.
Raila Odinga, chief opposition leader, had called for protests against the high cost of living, which has left many Kenyans helpless.
