Property of unknown value was reduced to ashes after a fire gutted down a dormitory at Masogo Mixed Secondary School in Kisumu County, Western part of Kenya.
The inferno that started before midnight on Monday destroyed all the students’ property.
One student was severely injured during the incident and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is currently receiving medical attention.
Eight other students sustained minor injuries during the commotion when the inferno broke out.
They were treated and discharged.
The origin of the fire remains unknown.
Police have begun investigating what might have caused the fire, while the school’s principal, John Otuko, is appealing to well-wishers to support students whose belongings were destroyed.
