Kenya’s Principal Secretary (PS) for Correctional Services, Esther Ngero, has resigned for personal reasons.

In a statement signed by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Ngero was praised for creating an institutional framework to facilitate the implementation of Public Service Performance Management and Monitoring for Ministries, State Departments, and State Agencies (MDAs).

“His Excellency the President has received and accepted with regret the resignation of Ms Esther Ngero, Principal Secretary for Correctional Services, who is leaving the office for personal reasons,” read the statement in part.

The outgoing PS was recently transferred from the State Department for Performance Management and Delivery Services in the Prime Cabinet Secretary’s Office to the State Department for Correctional Services in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

Ngero joined the ranks of Principal Secretaries in December 2022 after over two decades in the petroleum industry.

She graduated from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies and Mathematics. She then attended the Kenya School of Petroleum Studies to acquire a professional certification in Petroleum Stocks Control and Management.
