The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness has strongly denied widespread rumours that its leader, Prophet Dr. David Owuor, predicted the world would end on August 2, 2025.
In an official press statement, the church dismissed the claims as “false, baseless, malicious, and intended to harm the reputation” of both the Prophet and the church.
The church noted that Prophet Owuor has never given a specific date for the return of the Messiah or the end of the world. The statement reiterated the Biblical teaching from Matthew 24:36, which states that “no one knows the day or the hour” of the Lord’s return.
“We, the leadership and congregation of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, strongly denounce the recent spread of false and misleading information about the world ending on August 2, 2025,” the statement read.
“Prophet Dr. Owuor has always been very categorical that nobody knows the day or the hour when the Messiah will return.”
The church had earlier issued an official statement on July 13, 2025, addressing the same issue. The clarification was also aired on KBC News on July 14 and featured on Radio 47 the following day.
Despite this, false claims have continued to circulate on social media platforms and through blogs and unverified content creators.
Senior Archbishop Michael Nieswand, National Overseer of the Ministry, called on all media houses, bloggers, and the public to exercise responsibility and verify information before sharing it.
“We urge everyone to refrain from spreading rumours and instead pursue truth, peace, and unity. As believers, we are called to be discerning and prayerful,” he said.
