One student has been confirmed dead and three others severely injured after a vehicle they were travelling in involved in a gruesome road accident in Tsavo, Kenya’s Taita Taveta.
The deceased, who was in the company of other students, were on their way to school after their mid-term break.
The local authority reported that the accident transpired after the fourteen seater vehicle’s driver swerved sharply to avoid hitting an elephant, rolling off the Taita-Voi road.
The form one student succumbed to injuries while she was being rushed to a nearby hospital.
The three who sustained severe injuries are currently undergoing specialized treatment in the hospital.
Nine other students who sustained minor injuries have been discharged.
