Safaricom, Kenya’s largest telecommunications company, announced transaction fees on Thursday for sums ranging from Ksh15,001 to Ksh250,000.
Following the announcement, customers will be charged Ksh108 for transferring any amount between Ksh151000 and Ksh250000 to Mpesa registered users.
It will cost them Ksh318 to send the same amounts to unregistered Mpesa users.
On the other hand, withdrawal charges will be Ksh309.
“We welcome the move by the Central Bank of Kenya to increase M-PESA transaction limits to KSh. 250,000. The increased transaction limits are a timely intervention as they will provide customers and businesses with additional convenience when doing business empowering them to do more from their phones,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO – Safaricom.
The decision comes on the heels of the Central Bank of Kenya’s prior permission for daily limit and M-PESA limit rises to KSh. 500,000 per day beginning August 14, 2023.
