A Kenyan court has sentenced a woman for seven-year imprisonment after finding her guilty of attempting to murder her boyfriend.
The court heard that Ebby Khalea stabbed his boyfriend Michael Ngure Wanjeri on the night of July 31, 2020, after a quarrel ensued between them.
Khalea committed the offence at the Soweto estate in Nairobi’s Kibera slum.
The court was told that the convict on the fateful night Khalea arrived at her lover’s house and found the door locked from the inside.
She borrowed a machete from a neighbour and unlocked the door whose shutter was a nail on the inside frame.
The neighbour was reported to have taken back his machete before sleeping. Later, he was woken up by a commotion as the lovebirds were involved in a bitter exchange of words.
Things got out of hands when Khalea stabbed Ngure. The latter was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Kenya’s Senior Principal Magistrate Phillip Mutua said the prosecution proved its case against the convict.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
