A civilian firearm holder, alleged to be the owner of QAFFEE POINT Hotel, has been arrested following a shooting incident in the Ganjoni area of Mombasa.
The 1:30pm incident left two individuals injured, both of whom are currently receiving medical treatment.
“The reported two persons who suffered injuries are receiving medical aid, and we pray that they will recuperate fast,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
According to DCI, the shooter was quickly disarmed, apprehended, and placed in custody pending investigations.
The DCI commended the public’s prompt action in assisting the injured individuals and ferrying them to the hospital.
At the same time, the agency appealed to the residents of Mombasa to remain calm as the legal process unfolds and assured them that necessary legal action was being taken.
In a viral video clip, the civilian was filmed shooting a group of protesters along the streets of the Ganjoni area.
The protesters are demanding the resignation of President William Ruto.
