An 18-year-old student accused of stabbing a colleague in mysterious circumstances has been arrested in Lamu, Kenya’s Coast.
The suspect was smoked out of his hideout by the police on Wednesday night after being on the run since Monday.
He reportedly killed Mohamed Bakari in their school for unknown reasons.
The deceased allegedly visited a friend at Faza Secondary School’s Form Three building when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him from behind, killing him instantly.
The incident has strained relations between the two neighbouring villages of Faza, where the deceased was born, and Tchundwa, where the suspect grew up.
The school was shuttered indefinitely, and all 231 students were dismissed.
The suspect is in police custody for interrogation and awaiting arraignment.
