Suspected bandits shot dead a policer officer in Northern Kenya

An officer of the Samburu police station in Northern Kenya was shot dead on Sunday, January 2, 2022, by thugs who attacked the station.

During the raid on the Lerata police station by a gang of robbers, the victim, named as Constable Moses Mwambia, was shot as he went to obtain water for them.

Apparently, the gang had gone to the station and requested drinking water, and while the officer went to fetch the water from a nearby tank, he was shot from behind and killed on the spot, according to the police.

Following the encounter, the bandits were able to flee the scene.

The reason for the raid is not yet determined.

This is the latest occurrence to occur in the Samburu, and it is the latest in a series of incidents that have impacted the residents.

Another cop was killed in a banditry attack in the Samburu district on Christmas Day.

The assailants set fire to a number of homes and took animals that had been left behind by locals who had evacuated the area.
