A male suspect masquerading as a woman has been arrested in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.

Peter Omweno Momanyi was arrested by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) alongside his accomplice John Muchiri Kimani, 25, on Monday.

DCI noted that Momanyi’s appearance attracted the police officers attention prompting them to order the duo to stop for interrogation.

Instead of stopping, they took their heels, but the officers swung into action and arrested them at Mbagathi Bridge.

The 24-year-old suspect dressed in a black dress, red top and a woman’s head covering.

Police said the suspects are part of a gang that has been robbing fitness enthusiasts jogging along Lang’ata and Mbagathi roads in Nairobi early in the morning and late in the evening.

Members of the public who have lost property to the two suspects have been urged to file a report at Lang’ata police station.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
