Two suspects have been arraigned before a Kiambu court for arson and malicious damage to property in Kikuyu, on the outskirts of Nairobi.
Naftary David Njama Gatuota, Joseph Kuru Waweru and others not before the court are accused of having taken part in the setting on fire of the Kikuyu NG-CDF offices, malicious damage to property where they set on fire an NG-CDF vehicle.
They are also accused of vandalizing the office of the Deputy County Commissioner of Kikuyu Sub-County.

The offences were committed on June 25, 2024, during the protests against punitive Finance Bill 2024.
The two individuals who unsuccessfully vied for elective posts during the 2022 elections denied all three counts and were released on a Ksh1 Million (000) bond with a surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Ksh200,000 (50).
Meanwhile, four other individuals have also been charged with breaking into a building and stealing assorted goods worth over Ksh450,000 (88) from various stalls within Nairobi.
The four, William Barasa, Dennis Kamau, Brian Thirikwa Wangechi and Christopher Nyogoro, appeared at Milimani law courts, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Other suspects, namely Stephen Mokogi Nyarenchi and Geoffrey Njau Wangui, were also charged with unlawful entry into parliament precincts on June 29, 2024, by climbing the fence along Parliament Road.
“We caution members of the public to refrain from acts of violence and destruction of property as the law will take its course without fear or favor,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
