Vincent Murithi Kirimi and four others have been charged afresh before the Kiambu High Court in connection with the murder of Daniel Muthiani Bernard alias Sniper.

This is after the court approved the prosecution’s request to combine the two cases, resulting in the new charges.

Vincent Murithi Kirimi and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai Alias Tali had been charged separately with Christus Manyara Kiambi, Brian Mwenda, and Bonface Kithinji Njiiyia.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charge before Lady Justice Abigail Mshila.

The prosecution team argued that consolidation is in the best interests of justice because it saves court time and that the application is premised on the ground that the two cases arise from similar facts and circumstances.

It is alleged that the accused persons, on diverse dates between December 2, 2023, and December 6, 2023, at River Mutonga in Ciakariga Sub-County within Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya’s upper eastern, jointly with others not before the court, murdered Sniper.

“The bail hearing is scheduled for 14/3/2024 subject to the receipt of the pre-bail report . The Probation and Aftercare Service was allowed 14 days to conduct a social inquiry,” said the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).

The matter will be mentioned virtually on March 7, 2024, to confirm the availability of a pre-bail report.
