Three people have been confirmed dead after a canoe they were traveling in capsized in the Indian Ocean, Mombasa.
The deceased were part of five family members traveling from Tsunza for a kin's burial in Dongo Kundu on Tuesday, September 28, 2022.
Reports indicate that the other two family members were rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
"One child's body resurfaced and was retrieved and moved to Port Reitz hospital mortuary," said Hassan Hamisi, the Mombasa's Mwadungo Beach Management Unit chairperson.
The rescue mission to retrieve the remaining body is ongoing.
