A Kitui court has handed down 30-year prison sentences to three men convicted of gang-raping a 17-year-old girl.
The accused, Meshack Musee Maithya, Boniface Malombe, and Peter Kithiki, were found guilty of committing the heinous act on June 26, 2021, in the Miambani location, Kitui Central.
The court ruled that the prosecution, led by Linet Adoyo and Corretta Mbae, had successfully proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The evidence presented in court overwhelmingly pointed to the involvement of the three men in the brutal attack on the minor, leading to their conviction.
In a related verdict, a fourth accused person was found guilty of engaging in an indecent act with the same minor.
The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
This ruling has been hailed as a significant victory in the fight against sexual violence, particularly in cases involving minors.
