A Kenyan court has sentenced a man found guilty of illegally harbouring nine Asian belly dancers to three years in prison.
Kenya’s Magistrate Francis Andayi said the evidence presented before the court linked Shaikh Furoan Hussain to trafficking the nine belly dancers from Asia and harbouring them at a Nairobi club before security officers rescued them.
The girls from Nepal (8) and Pakistan (1) are said to have been brought into the country for the purposes of exploitation.

They were rescued from Nairobi’s Balle Balle club.
“They were vulnerable since they were foreigners and even if they wished to go back home, they could not because they did not have their travelling documents, the passports were with the first accused person,” stated Magistrate Andayi.
However, Sheikh denied bringing the girls into the country, noting that they were dancing for the club’s matron and were being paid.
