Students of the Technical University of Mombasa on Monday took to the streets to protest against the alleged fee increment.
The students marched around the campus carrying placards and twigs. The students claimed that fees were hiked for the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences students.
The students sought an explanation from the administration on the fee increment and what they claimed as learners being de-registered from the online portal due to missing grades.
During the mid-morning commotion, a fire broke out at the Students Centre, which houses numerous businesses, including a fast-food restaurant.
The Mombasa fire department was called in to put out the fire.
The value of the property destroyed during the commission is yet to be established.
