Former President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta, on Friday, January 20, 2023, met with the technical advisory team drawn from the East Africa Community member states.

The advisory team, which held a week-long conference in Mombasa, Kenya, engaged in deliberations to develop a road map towards enhancing the peace process of restoring long-lasting peace, security, and stability in the Eastern part of DRC.

Addressing the forum, the EAC facilitator called on the newly formed team to work together to achieve the regional Heads of State and governments' objectives.

"I want to thank all of you for agreeing to be part of the team, to assist in this endeavour of trying to find lasting peace in one of our neighbouring countries DRC," said Mr. Kenyatta.

The facilitator also thanked the EAC secretariat for organising and facilitating the conference, saying long-lasting peace in DRC will eventually help enhance the capacity of the region to promote its economic prosperity.

Kenyatta is the AU-Kenya Peace Envoy and EAC Facilitator of the East Africa Community - Nairobi Process on peace and security in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
