Warfare Equipment Seized By Police In Garissa
Police in Kenya on May 22 recovered warfare equipment in Garissa, the Northeastern part of the country.
The equipment included 2 RPGs with 7 warheads, 6 AK47 rifles with 20 Magazines, 1 PK Machine gun with a belt of 200 rounds, 2 hand grenades, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials, a food cache, 1 cell phone and a Memory Card.
According to police, the equipment was in the hands of Alshabaab militants.
“On May 22, 2023, at around 1100hrs while along Diiso, Biamthow SOG Officers on patrol found fresh foot prints at Billow Dam and after tracking the footprints for about 2.7 kms, where they came across a makeshift camp with about 10 suspected Alshabaab militants engaged in a shootout, and the militants escaped,” said the police.
A manhunt has been launched for the suspects.
Elsewhere, police on May 23 arrested the two most wanted criminals in Kabete, Nairobi.
The suspects Kurt, 21, and Ngaira, 25, are linked to a spate of robberies in Kabete and its environs.
Police recovered two firearms, one pistol capable of firing, a machete, a motorcycle, and other items from Kurt.
From the second suspect, Ngaira, Police recovered two power banks, a WiFi router, a mobile phone – two power tablets and memory cards.
