A middle-aged woman in Kenya is nursing injuries after he was shot on suspicion of being the most wanted police officer Caroline Kangogo who is on the run after murdering two men in different locations.
Phanice Chemutai Juma was shot in the lower left abdomen by a businessman and a licensed firearm holder, Ken Muyundo, at the Kiminini market in Western Kenya, on Thursday evening.
Muyondo told police that the woman has been calling him continuously, asking to meet him in the market. He noted that upon arriving at the scene, he suspected the woman was Caroline Kangogo and fired a single shot to scare her.
After the incident, the businessman reported the incident to Kiminini Police Station, and Phanice was arrested immediately. On interrogation, the woman confessed to having met Muyondo and exchanged contacts.
When the security officers realized she was nursing gun wounds, she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested and is being held in police custody pending investigations.
The officers retrieved Muyundo’s Ceska pistol, a magazine loaded with ten bullets, and a spent cartridge.
He will be arraigned and charged with attempted murder.
