EACC commissioners Maalim and Macharia resign

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Dr Dabar Abdi Maalim and Rose Macharia have quit, announced the State House.

A statement received by the State House on Wednesday says that the duo submitted their resignation on Wednesday morning to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to the State House, Kenyatta has accepted their resignation though failed to reveal why they opted to quit.

“His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta has today, 1st September 2021, received and accepted the resignation of Dr Dabar Abdi Maalim and Mrs Rose Mghoi Macharia as Commissioners of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC),” State House said.

Dr Maalim and Macharia assumed the office in 2016 alongside Paul Mwaniki and Sophia Lepuchirit after the National Assembly Justice, and Legal Affairs Committee approved their nomination.

Any EACC commissioner is only allowed to serve for six years and not eligible for re-appointment.
