Former MP Paul Otuoma is the ODM’s flagbearer in the Busia Gubernatorial race.

Otuoma grabbed the ticket after trouncing his rival Florence Mutua in primaries held on Monday, April 11, 2022.

Releasing the results in the wee hours of Tuesday, the county returning officer Prof. Charles Tips announced Otuoma as the winner after garnering 49330 votes against Mutua who got 30696 votes.

At the same time, Prof. Tips issued Otuoma with the interim certificate in line with electoral laws.

The elated Otuoma has urged his competitors to join hands ahead of the August 9, 2022, polls.

“We have conducted an election that I believe will bring together the ODM family together because we have to remember this was a game between two ODM members,” Otuoma said.

“This was just a party contest and it will be my responsibility to bring all the people in Busia together so that we are able to win the August 9 election.”

Otuoma will now compete against Jubilee's Lucas Meso, DAP Kenya's Dan Mogoria, and Nambale MP John Bunyasi, who is running for governor on an ANC ticket.
