The Kenyan former Prime Minister has appointed Ndiritu Muriithi, the governor of Laikipia, as chairperson of his campaign board.

Odinga noted that the Governor’s 29-year experience in financial markets and the economy is the main reason he has been brought to the board.

"Governor Murithi was instrumental in the drive to have the derelict Nairobi-Nanyuki and Gilgil-Nyahururu railway lines rehabilitated. He is the current finance, planning, and economic affairs committee chairperson of the Council of Governors elected in January 2021," read part of a statement released on Wednesday.

Elizabeth Meyo, an IMF consultant, was also hired with Muriithii. She will act as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and secretary to the campaign's board of directors.

Meyo has over three decades of administrative and strategic experience

"She is the immediate former Commissioner of the Domestic Taxes Department at Kenya Revenue Authority. During her tenure at the KRA, Elizabeth was pivotal in the KRA’s policy and strategy development for the country," the statement added.

"Meyo will be the overall chief executive of the campaign, implement its strategic and key decisions, head the campaign secretariat, and make all vital decisions. She will be the sole campaign spokesperson.," the statement further stated.
