Thuo Mathenge, the New Democrats aspirant, has been cleared to vie for Nyeri gubernatorial seat during the August 9 polls.
Mathenge was given the go-ahead on Monday, June 6, after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) turned him down last Saturday for failing to reach the academic qualification requirement.
According to the IEBC, his certificates were not genuine.
"This is like magic to me, I can't believe I now have the certificate after all the troubles I have gone through, but God is great," said Mathenge.
Mathenge alleged that his opponents were keen to block him out of the race.
"I don't know what I did to my detractor. They have been going around Nyeri County saying that I have been thrown out of the race," he added.
