“I Jimi Richard Wanjigi do accept to be Safina party presidential candidate for the General elections scheduled for 9th August 2022.I will protect the moral conduct of the party in the campaign and governance, so help me God,” said Jimi Wanjigi.

Wanjigi is the fourth politician to express his interest in the country’s top seat besides Raila Odinga, William Ruto and Muthoni Grita.

Ms Grita announced her candidacy on Sunday, stating that human rights, women's rights, and youth empowerment are at the top of her agenda for Kenya.

"I come to you today, humbly representing and tendering my aspiration to be the fifth president of the great Republic of Kenya. I am Grita Muthoni, a Kenyan by birth. I am a patriotic Kenyan and a mother. Mothers nurture, love all children equally and this is what Kenyans need now," she declared.

She will use Ford Asili as her political vehicle.
