Former Kenyan Vice President and Wiper party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka have quit Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance led by Raila Odinga.

Kalonzo announced that he will be vying for the presidency and has named Andrew Sunkuli as his running mate. He said he will run for the Wiper party under the One Kenya Alliance coalition.

The Wiper boss said he ditched Azimio after Odinga failed to pick him as his deputy, instead of going for former Justice and Constitution Affairs minister and Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua.

“My brother Raila knows I am naming my running mate. He came to my house to try and convince me to accept his choice. We did not agree and he said he would choose Martha and I told him I would choose my own running mate,” said Kalonzo.

Kalonzo and his allies boycotted the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya running mate unveiling event at KICC, threatening to leave the coalition and go it alone over the running mate dispute.

The Wiper party sent out invites to its legislators last night for a morning meeting at the SKM Command Centre, Nairobi, where its leader intended to make an announcement.

“You are invited by our party leader His Excellency Hon Kalonzo Musyoka to the SKM command centre today morning 16th May 2022 at 11am for an extremely important announcement. Please purpose to come,” the invite sent by Robert Mbui, Wipers National Organizing Secretary read in part.
