Kenyan Presidential Aspirant Faces Assault Allegations

A woman is accusing a Kenyan presidential aspirant Mukhisa Kituyi of assaulting her.

Mukhisa Kituyi is alleged to have committed the offence at a hotel in Mombasa, Kenya’s Coast, last month. People Daily reported that the woman had filed a report at Mombasa’s Nyali Police Station on May 22, 2021.

She claimed the former Secretary-General for United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) pushed her from the bed and continuously kicked her while on the floor leaving her with injuries on left knee.

“Assault report to the station by one Diana Opemi Lutta who had submitted a report on May 22, 2021. She has been assaulted by a person known to her within Tamarind village, namely Mukhisa Kituyi whom she claims to be her boyfriend,” read part of the police report.

However, Kituyi has dismissed the accusations stating that the case had already been settled.

“Someone had written a report claiming I had assaulted her but it was not true. I’ve never beaten any woman in my life nor do I intend to ever do it at any given time. We sorted out the case and it was withdrawn,” he said.

The former Trade Minister claim’s has been denied by Nyali Police Station. Nyali OCS Albert Chebii noted they are still investigating the matter.
