MPs And Senators To Be Sworn-In On Thursday

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday announced the first session of both the National Assembly and Senate.

In a gazette notice dated September 5, 2022, President Kenyatta said the sitting will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2022, at 9 am, where all elected Members of Parliament and Senators will take the oath.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 126 (2) of the Constitution of Kenya, I. Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint that the First Sitting of the National Assembly and Senate shall be held at the Main Parliament Buildings in the Senate Chamber, Nairobi, on September 8, 2022, at 9.00 am," read part of the notice.

The First Sitting of the National Assembly shall be held at the Main Parliament Buildings in the National Assembly Chamber.

Article 126 (2) of the Constitution requires the President to declare via a gazette notice the date for the first sitting of the new House within 30 days after elections.
