Lawmakers elected during the last week’s general elections will be sworn in on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
After the oath, members will elect both Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
In a Gazette Notice, the National Assembly Acting Clerk Serah Kioko said the exercise will be followed by orientation slated for Thursday and Friday next week.
“In this regard, the Clerk of the National Assembly invites all Members to attend orientation sessions to be held in Parliament Buildings, Nairobi as per the schedules; Thursdays, August 25 (Morning session-9 am to 12:30 pm, Afternoon-2:30 pm to 5 pm) and Friday, August 26 (9 am to 12:30 pm, Afternoon-2:30 pm to 5 pm),” said Serah Kioko.
The members’ orientation session will mainly collect their bio-data information, take a tour of the facilities and brief on the matters of the House.
The new MPs-elect are also required to present documents among them; The Original National ID or Passport, KRA PIN, original Certificate of the Elected Member of the National Assembly issued by the IEBC Returning Officer, Duly filed and signed bio-data form and a copy of updated CV.
