Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye has arrived in Kenya ahead of Madaraka fete.
Mr. Ndayishimiye landed at Kisumu International Airport a few minutes past 10 am (local time) accompanied by First Lady Angeline Ndayubaha.
They were received by Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo and other senior government officials.
The Head of State of Burundi will be the guest of honour at the Madaraka Day Celebration slated for tomorrow at lakeside city of Kisumu.
The annual event is meant to commemorate the day that Kenya took power when it attained internal self-rule in 1963.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead Kenyans to celebrate the country’s 58th Madaraka Day.
Mr. Kenyatta arrived in Kisumu on Sunday and launched some development projects ahead of the fete.
