President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to kick off his three-day to western Kenya on Sunday, August 1.

His deputy William Ruto at the same time will be heading to Mt. Kenya East to popularize his presidential bid.

President Kenyatta will inspect and launch development projects in Vihiga, Kakamega, Busia, and Bungoma counties during his tour.

Kenya’s Head of State is expected to launch a $1 million Kakamega Gold Refinery and upgrade the Kakamega Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The President will also commission the construction of Matulo Airstrip in Webuye, Chwele Open Air Market, Kanduyi Stadium, and Nzoia Sugar Factory.

At the same time, Kenyatta will also inspect the Vihiga Water Cluster project and award a charter to Kaimosi University College. Also expected to feature during the President’s visit is the revival of the ailing Mumias and Nzoia sugar factories.

Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta met the region’s five governors, namely, Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Wilber Ottichilo (Vihiga), Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia), and Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), and Cabinet Secretaries Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) and John Munyes (Petroleum).

They discussed the development projects in the region.
