John Ogallo and Cecilia Mutuku have been nominated to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

After nominating them, the President forwarded their names to the National Assembly for approval through the speaker Justin Muturi. The approval process is expected to take 28 days in line with the constitution.

“Having received the report of the Public Service Commission on the recruitment of persons for appointment as Commissioners, His Excellency the President has forwarded the two names to fill the existing vacancies,” said Muturi.

The exercise will be undertaken by the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC).

The Committee is expected to notify the nominees and the general public of the time and place for holding the approval hearings.

Upon conclusion of the hearings, it will be required to table its report to enable the House to consider the matter within the statutory timelines.

If approved Cecilia and Ogallo will replace Dabar Abdi Maalim, and Rose Mghoi Macharia who quit last year.

Each commissioner is expected to serve a non-renewable six-year term.

Abdi and Rose were drawing close to their term.
