Presidential aspirant Muthiora Kariara on Monday, June 6, 2022, burnt his voter card after being barred from vying for the presidency during the August 9 polls.
Kariara appeared before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) at the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi, to be cleared to run for the country's top seat.
Unfortunately, the electoral agency locked him out of the race after he failed to meet the standard requirements by the law.
According to IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati, the candidate submitted "a bundle of copies of ID cards for unspecified counties".
"Out of the 20 supporters' list which he submitted, only 19 counties were found to be compliant with the set regulations," said Chebukati.
Additionally, his running mate did not have a signed code of conduct, one of the mandatory documents required for clearance.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
