Ruto’s running mate must come from Mt. Kenya, says MP Gachagua

Mathira lawmaker Rigathi Gachugua has insisted that the deputy president William Ruto’s running seat is preserved for Mt. Kenya region.

While appearing on local television, MP Gachugua said it was agreed that Ruto will select a running mate before ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya boss Moses Wetangula joined Kenya Kwanza coalition.

"Ruto's running mate must come from the mountain. Before we were joined by the other people, we had our own arrangements that we had discussed and my position has been, whatever had been agreed upon earlier cannot change drastically to the disadvantage of the Mount Kenya region," he said.

However, the naming of the deputy president for Kenya Kwanza is left Ruto.

"The decision of who will be running mate for William Ruto will be decided by William Ruto," he added.
