The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has resolved to support Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

The outfit made the announcement during its National Delegation Convention (NDC) held in Nairobi on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

“UDM national delegates conference endorses Hon Raila Odinga as the presidential candidate for the party in the 2022 General elections, “read the statement read by the party lawyer Issa Mansur.

The UDM party, which has the majority of support in the Northeastern Region, has also decided to join the Azimio la Umoja Movement ahead of the elections.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, Siaya Senator James Orengo, Former Gatundu North MP Peter Kenneth, and Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) party head Wafula Wamunyinyi all attended the NDC.

Odinga applauded the endorsement and made a slew of promises targeted at restoring the economy of the region, which he said had been sidelined for decades.

“Pastoralists are very important people and my government will ensure it considers their plight through creating opportunities aimed at ensuring that Livestock production is enhanced even in the cases of drought,” he said.
