Kirinyaga County woman representative Wangui Ngirici has ditched the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and announced that she will vie Gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.
In a blistering attack on Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party officials, the MP said she will not abandon her ambitions for the Kirinyaga governorship in favour of Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru.
She claimed she is under pressure from the party officials to run for the Mwea parliamentary seat on the party’s ticket.
Angry Ngirichi made the revelation while touring the Mwea and Gichugu constituencies in Kirinyaga County, in central Kenya, where she distributed food to needy families and individuals.
The lawmaker contradicted DP Ruto’s statements about free and fair elections, claiming that the United Democratic Alliance will not have fair nominations.
“Do you believe there would be fair nominations for the Mwea seat if they tell you to run for it?” Wangui posed for photographs with the villagers of Kangai, Mwea.
At the same time, the member urged residents to make informed decisions about their favourite presidential candidate ahead of the 2022 presidential election.
“You have the option of selecting one of three presidential candidates: William Ruto, Raila Odinga, or Musalia Mudavadi,” Wangui stated.
