On Wednesday, a Kenyan male teacher was caught red-handed engaging in sexual acts with an alleged 21-year-old student who had just completed her national exams.
The teacher Mr Leonard Baraza, a principal in a local school in Nakuru, northwest of Nairobi, was apprehended following a tip-off from area residents, said the local authorities.
The girl told the police that she went to the suspect’s house on Wednesday evening after completing her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) paper.
The result from a local health facility where the girl was tested after the incident showed she had sex with the teacher.
The suspect was taken to the nearest police station but was later released on a free bond.
The student was ordered to present her birth certificate to the police to confirm her actual age to pave the way for further action.
A person who commits a defilement offence with underage in Kenya is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than twelve years.
