A Doctor in Austria was fined after amputating a patient’s leg incorrectly.
A female surgeon severed the elderly patient’s right leg instead of his left, and the mistake was only noticed two days later in a terrible episode that occurred in May 2021.
The 43-year-old was found guilty of gross negligence and fined €2,700 (£2,296) on Wednesday, December 1.

The court also awarded €5,000 in damages to the patient’s widow, who died before the case went to court.
The surgeon said in court that there was a flaw in the operating room’s chain of command.
“I honestly don’t know,” she answered when asked why she had tagged the right leg but not the left.
