A 29-year-old pedestrian has been killed in a fatal collision in Poplar.
The police were called at 02:56hrs on Friday, 15 December, to a report of a car in collusion with a pedestrian on Aspen Way at the junction with Prestons Road, E14.
Paramedics attended, and despite efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s family have been informed and is supported by specialist officers.
The driver, a 23-year-old in a white Audi RS Q3, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been granted bail to return in mid-March, pending further enquiries.
Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward.
